Civitas Strategies works nationally to strengthen child care businesses so they can earn more and keep more of what they earn. Through its free online resources, including the Taking Care of Business blog (formally Tom Copeland's) and practical tools on the Civitas Strategies website, Civitas provides plain-language guidance on topics such as taxes, record keeping, pricing, business operations, finances, staffing, marketing, enrollment, retirement planning, and long-term sustainability.

This session will introduce family child care providers to free resources they can use right away to increase revenue, decrease costs, and mitigate risks. The focus will be on practical steps providers can take to better understand their numbers, avoid common money mistakes, and improve the financial health of their child care business. Civitas is not an Oregon-specific program, but the resources are designed to support child care providers in any state.
